About The Position

Under the general supervision of the maintenance supervisor, assist in achieving departmental goals by using hand and power tools to fabricate and repair items according to sketches, diagrams, or manufacturer specifications. This role involves providing lead supervision for project helpers, coordinating and assigning specific job duties, and ensuring the quality and thoroughness of their work. The Plumber interprets and clarifies work order requests for all plumbing duties, evaluates them for regulatory code compliance, and provides timeframes and cost estimates for completion. They are responsible for ordering materials, interpreting blueprints and sketches, evaluating inventory, and re-ordering necessary materials to maintain minimum stock levels. The position requires measuring items and areas, fabricating necessary items, and installing plumbing-related equipment according to specifications. A key responsibility includes performing certification testing of backflow prevention devices and submitting this certification to the regulatory agency. The role also involves performing other related duties as assigned to meet departmental goals and maintaining regular attendance.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum of five years experience as a journeyman plumber.
Cross Connection Control Certification or Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification required within 12 months of employment.
Ability to comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations.

Evaluates inventory and re-orders necessary material to maintain minimum stock.
Assists staff with related work request to accurately determine specific needs.
Draws rough sketches to assure clear understanding of request.
Measures items or areas in order to fabricate or submit measurement to vendor for cost estimate.
Uses hand and power tools to fabricate necessary request.
Uses job related equipment to perform quality work by specification.
Measures parts, and equipment to duplicate.
Installs plumbing related equipment submitted by vendor.
Evaluates to ensure meet designed specification.
Assembles and installs equipment as specified by manufacturer.
Provides certification testing of backflow prevention devices.
Tests and installs necessary device to meet regulatory codes.
Submits certification testing to regulatory agency.
Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the department.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
