About The Position

The Plumber Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and industrial plumbing systems at Fort Hood, TX. This role requires a strong understanding of plumbing codes, the ability to interpret technical documents, and experience with various types of facilities and projects, including federal and military construction. The technician will coordinate with project managers and other trades, ensure compliance with safety standards, and assist with facility sustainment and new construction. Emergency repair support is also a key aspect of this position.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must pass a federal background review and drug screen.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a plumber in commercial, industrial, institutional, or military facilities.
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Journeyman Plumber License or equivalent trade certification.
  • Experience supporting federal, Department of Defense (DoD), USACE, or military construction projects.
  • Experience with healthcare, barracks, warehouse, or large institutional facilities.
  • OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.
  • Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), and other applicable federal standards.
  • Experience installing and maintaining domestic water, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to military installations.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial and industrial plumbing systems, including water supply, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and related piping systems.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, blueprints, and plumbing schematics.
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures, valves, pumps, water heaters, backflow preventers, and related equipment.
  • Perform inspections, testing, and commissioning of plumbing systems to verify compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
  • Identify plumbing deficiencies and recommend corrective actions to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Coordinate work activities with project managers, construction representatives, contractors, and other trades to support project schedules.
  • Ensure all work complies with federal, state, local, and military construction standards, including OSHA safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections, testing results, and material usage.
  • Assist with facility sustainment, renovation, and new construction projects across the installation.
  • Support emergency repair and maintenance activities as required.
