About The Position

Valiant is looking for a Plumber/Pipefitter to join our team! This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of pipes and systems, including domestic water, chilled water, steam, and drainage systems, as well as their supporting equipment. The position also includes responsibility for the operation, maintenance, and repair of fixtures like faucets, sinks, and commodes, as well as industrial systems such as water softeners and RO/DI systems. A key aspect of the role is handling all medical gas fixtures and their components. The Plumber/Pipefitter will coordinate with the Project Manager and trade supervisors, communicate effectively with management, teammates, and customers, and troubleshoot complex equipment. The role requires executing tasks efficiently with a focus on quality and customer service, documenting work, and responding to plumbing emergencies. Regular maintenance to prevent issues and providing excellent customer service are also essential functions. The position may require performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass comprehensive background check.
  • Maryland Journeyman License (minimum) and active backflow certification required.
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing, at minimum a valid Maryland-State Issued Journeyman’s Plumbing License.
  • Must possess and maintain in good standing, valid Backflow Certification.
  • 4+ years of documented experience in the maintenance of industrial plumbing systems and their supporting equipment.
  • Working knowledge in the following areas: medical gas, water softeners, reverse osmosis and deionized water systems, natural gas, other systems as necessary.
  • Working knowledge of plumbing hand tools, power tools, pipe threading machines, pipe benders, cutting torches, and all other applicable plumbing tools.
  • Working knowledge of building drawings and plumbing piping layout, riser diagrams, and pumping systems.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure with or without supervision.
  • 40-hour work week expectation, OT may be made available or required at times.
  • Participate in on call rotation.
  • Must be well-versed in current codes and standard practices.
  • Should present solid fundamental understanding of maintenance, troubleshooting and repair principles.
  • Must be able to dependably travel to / from job location by automobile (personal vehicle).
  • Must be able to pass a basic level physical.
  • Must be able to pass a basic federal background check.
  • Ability to facilitate all physical requirements specific to this scope of work successfully.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • May be required to climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to work in a sitting or standing position for 8 or more hours per day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Installing, maintaining and repairing various types of pipes including joints, valves, drains and fixtures in all types of structures, heating, domestic water, chilled water, steam (up to 120psi), and drainage systems as well as all of their supporting equipment.
  • Responsible for operation, maintenance and repairs on faucets, sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, and a variety of industrial water softening systems, RO/DI, wastewater, as well as other equipment.
  • Responsible for all medical gas fixtures, to include all gauges, valves, regulators, strainers, tanks, components and piping.
  • Coordinating with the Project Manager and trade supervisors on the jobsite.
  • Directly communicate with management, teammates and customers in the form of meetings, face-to-face or written/electronic communications.
  • Troubleshooting complex equipment that may be unfamiliar, performing project take-offs and soliciting pricing and/or quotations in support of procurement process.
  • Execute scheduled and unscheduled tasks in timely manner with a strong focus on quality, completion, and customer service.
  • Communicate complex equipment repair.
  • Work closely with trade supervisors ensuring all records and documentation are kept up to date.
  • Responding to plumbing emergencies, determining the issue and making repairs.
  • Performing regular maintenance of plumbing and related systems to prevent emergencies.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service/satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
