About The Position

Under general supervision of a designated supervisor, the Plumber/Pipefitter installs, maintains, and repairs heating and plumbing systems. The role repairs plumbing by replacing defective equipment, mending or replacing broken pipes, and clearing clogged drains. It assembles pipe sections, tubing, and fittings; cuts openings in structures for pipes and fittings; and locates and marks pipe installations and passage holes using measuring instruments. The position studies building plans and inspects structures to determine materials, equipment, and installation sequence. It installs pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, and fixtures, cuts threads and bends pipes, and tests pipes and plumbing fixtures with water or air and pressure gauges to identify leaks. The position also maintains steam distribution and heating systems, dining hall equipment, and related plumbing and pipefitting equipment. It may perform welding, brazing, cutting, threading, and bending, and troubleshoot HVAC systems. The employee coordinates with outside contractors and the Plymouth Village Water & Sewer District, works with support staff to order materials, and collaborates with other plumbers, HVAC technicians, and Physical Plant staff to provide service to customers.
