About The Position

The Plumber, part of the Maintenance Department, is responsible for general troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of brewery equipment such as pipes, pumps, tanks, etc. This role requires a multi-discipline capability to repair, maintain, install, and make improvements on beverage processing equipment and building services, including process piping, building service piping, pneumatics, and hydraulics. The position involves fitting and welding piping systems, including process piping and stainless sanitary tube (TIG), carbon steel, as well as fitting and assembly of PVC and Copper DWV piping systems. A high level of process expertise is needed for effective troubleshooting and repair, including root cause analysis, and maintenance of specialized equipment like steam traps, specialized valves, and filtration systems. The role also includes executing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and demonstrating effective analytical troubleshooting skills. Understanding piping codes for hazardous environments and following Lock Out/Tag Out procedures are essential.

Requirements

  • Graduate of apprentice program or equivalent demonstrated skill level
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and maintenance software tools.
  • Flexibility to change based on priorities
  • Dependable, maintains good attendance
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Significant walking, climbing stairs or other means of mobility.
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift/move 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work off of ladders or scaffolding, and in awkward positions
  • Wears protective clothing and/or Personal Protective Equipment required by the work environment or government regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience or expertise in mechanical, HVAC equipment and process controls is preferred.
  • Welding certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide multi-discipline capability to repair, maintain, install and make improvements on beverage processing equipment and building services (includes process piping, building service piping, pneumatics, and hydraulics)
  • Fit / Weld piping systems including process piping, stainless sanitary tube (TIG), carbon steel.
  • Fit and assemble PVC, Copper, DWV ping systems
  • Achieve a high level of process expertise to effectively troubleshoot and repair equipment, including root cause analysis.
  • Maintain steam traps, specialized valves, filtration systems, and other specialized equipment.
  • Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Maintain a clean work area and always operate in a safe manner.
  • Communicate effectively with leaders, maintenance planner, technical staff, engineering and operations as needed.
  • Act as a team player – willing be flexible, often work in other areas and with other trades as needed to support maintenance team.
  • Maintain an excellent safety record – places safety and environment as top priority in all work
  • Demonstrate effective analytical troubleshooting skills
  • Read pipe and machine drawings
  • Understand piping codes for hazardous environments (flammable liquids)
  • Follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures
