About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled journey level work in the repair, modification, maintenance and installation of new and existing plumbing systems (water/sewer/steam/gas); including pipefitting and steam fitting. The role involves overseeing and participating in the work of a small group of employees engaged in determining defects, repairing, installing and maintaining piping and drainage systems for water, sewer, steam or natural gas. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, testing, repairing, maintaining, and modifying commercial plumbing, pipefitting and steam-fitting systems and equipment. The job requires planning and performing work of the trade at the full master’s level, replacing pumps and heaters, and repairing swimming pool and irrigation piping systems. Ensuring the proper maintenance of tools and equipment, maintaining safety in the work area, and using ladders and scaffolding are also key aspects of this role. The position works under the general supervision of a Senior Coordinator and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Some college level coursework
  • Graduation from an accredited apprenticeship plumbing and pipefitting program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least one year of customer service experience.
  • Journey Plumber License DPOR Va.
  • Journeyman Gas Fitter License Va.
  • Backflow Prevention Tester License (City).
  • 2 PSI Natural Gas Certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of skilled journey level work in the repair, modification, maintenance and installation of new and existing plumbing systems (water/sewer/steam/gas); including pipefitting and steam fitting.
  • Overseeing and participating in the work of a small group of employees engaged in determining defects, repairing, installing and maintaining piping and drainage systems for water, sewer, steam or natural gas.
  • Troubleshooting, testing, repairing, maintaining, and modifying commercial plumbing, pipefitting and steam-fitting systems and equipment.
  • Cutting and threading pipes to ensure proper connections.
  • Installing, repairing and replacing valves (gas, relief and thermo) and related controls, traps, plumbing fixtures, holding units, etc.
  • Planning and performing work of the trade at the full master’s level.
  • Replacing cooling and dual temperature pumps.
  • Repairing and replacing heaters (up to 80 gallons).
  • Repairing swimming pool and irrigation piping systems; installing, testing and repairing cross-connection and backflow control devices.
  • Ensuring proper maintenance of hand and power tools, such as pipe threaders and cutters, electric sewer routers, ejector pump machines, augers, water jet sewer machines, gas leak detectors, acetylene welding torches, backflow testers, multi-meters, temperature sensors and various drills and dies and other plumbing and pipefitting equipment.
  • Performing well under emergency repair situations.
  • Adapting to constantly changing priority work situations.
  • Performing skilled use of tools, equipment, and materials pertinent to the trade.
  • Ensuring safety of the work area.
  • Using ladders and scaffolding.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
