About The Position

The Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services is seeking a skilled and experienced Plumber/Pipefitter Foreman to lead and oversee plumbing operations across their facility at the LA. CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTE FOR WOMEN in St. Gabriel, LA. This role is responsible for supervising maintenance staff, coordinating complex plumbing and pipefitting projects, and ensuring all systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with state standards. The ideal candidate will be a dependable leader with strong technical expertise and a commitment to maintaining a secure and well-functioning environment. Requirements

• Four years of experience or training in pipefitting, steam fitting, or plumbing.
• Two years of the required experience must have been on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee the maintenance, repair, installation, and replacement of all plumbing, sewage, water distribution, and gas systems throughout the facility, ensuring all work meets state codes, safety regulations, and institutional standards.
• Diagnose system issues, plan corrective actions, and coordinate with other maintenance personnel as needed.
• Provide reliable weekend on-call coverage for emergency maintenance and repair needs, responding promptly to system failures, leaks, blockages, or other urgent issues to maintain continuous facility operations and ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and offenders.
• Train, supervise, and direct assigned inmate workers in the proper repair, maintenance, and installation of plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, tool control procedures, and correctional facility policies.
• Assign tasks, monitor work quality, and foster skill development while maintaining secure and orderly work environments.
