About The Position

This position oversees plumbing and pipefitting operations at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women (LCIW), supervising maintenance offender's, coordinating complex projects, and ensuring compliance with state standards. The role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to work in a secure correctional environment. Requirements

  • Four years of experience or training in pipefitting, steam fitting, or plumbing.
  • Two years of the required experience must have been on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities

  • Leads, schedules, and oversees plumbing and pipefitting projects throughout the facility, ensuring timely completion and compliance with state building codes and correctional-facility requirements.
  • Performs skilled installation, maintenance, and repair of water, sewer, steam, and gas systems, including valves, pumps, fixtures, and associated piping.
  • Diagnoses complex plumbing issues, determines corrective actions, and ensures repairs are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Provides hands-on training and daily oversight to inmate orderlies, reinforcing proper trade techniques, safety procedures, and secure tool handling.
  • Coordinates with other maintenance trades to support multi-disciplinary projects and ensure uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment status; reports critical issues to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and Department of Corrections policies.
  • Participates in on-call rotations and responds to emergency maintenance needs that may arise during or outside normal working hours.
