About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Pipefitter/Plumber to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Pipefitter/Plumber will perform duties associated with maintaining pipe/steam systems, to include install, repair, maintain, and replace water/steam lines, valves, radiators, heaters, storage and condensate tanks, steam traps, control valves, fittings, expansion joints and steam pressure systems. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have a high school diploma/equivalent.
  • Four (4) years apprenticeship or one (1) year as a journeyman Pipe Fitter/Plumber.
  • Must have a certifiable technical or trade school completion/diploma.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read blueprints and use shop mathematics.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.
  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.
  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain all certifications as required by Amentum’s Master Training Plan.
  • Good writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts.
  • Be detail oriented and able to exercise good judgment in problem solving.
  • Must be able to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.
  • Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain access.

Responsibilities

  • Plan piping/tubing system layouts, installations or repairs according to specifications.
  • Modify, clean, and maintain pipe/steam systems, units, fittings and related machines and equipment, following specifications using hand and power tools.
  • Install, repair, maintain, and replace water/steam lines, valves, radiators, heaters, storage and condensate tanks, steam traps, control valves, fittings, expansion joints and steam pressure sytems.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting, threading and welding.
  • Ability to use tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, benders, and welders.
  • Reads blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water, steam and waste distribution systems.
  • Selects and inserts precut pieces of a variety of tubing, pipes and fittings in holes.
  • Connect tubing/piping and fittings using solder, glues, torch, to form sewer, drain, and water/steam lines.
  • Remove and replace worn components.
  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipe lines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation or other methods.
  • Install/recondition small steam/hot water boilers and auxiliary equipment.
  • Work in cooperation with other trades and laborers to ensure that all specifications, procedures and policies are met, to ensure efficient completion of any project.
  • Provide adequate services, to ensure that all water/steam systems and waste drains are installed, repaired and maintained to meet all standards of building codes safely.
  • Maintain record of time and materials used on jobs and complete job orders.
  • Work under general supervision and from oral instructions, preventive maintenance program plans, work orders, emergency calls, layout sketches, blueprints, drawings, specifications, or similar guidance.
  • Review Task Hazard Analysis (THA's) prior to assigned duties and follow Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials.
  • Work is subject to in progress and final inspections to ensure compliance with instructions and quality of workmanship.
  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.
  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.
  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.
  • May be required to work overtime.
  • Work near and or in an ammunition and explosives demilitarization facility.
  • May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above.
  • Perform other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.
