Ability to perform all phases of plumbing of fume hood units. Test each unit following the checklist and signoff after successful pass. Using Kewaunee’s scheduling system paperwork, will identify the parts and/or assemblies required to fill the customer order. Basic drawing interpretation for plumbing systems. Selects parts, tools, and equipment applicable to the fume hood pre-plumb system. Plumb fume hoods as required by blueprint specifications. Makes plumbing takeoff to avoid interferences. Measure and cut copper tube. Make a soldering joint using 3/8" nominal 1/2"OD copper tube and union fitting. Measure, thread, and cut brass and black iron pipe. Make an American Standard Pipe thread using 3/8" nominal black iron and brass pipe. Apply thread sealant to threaded pipe or fitting and make a leak tight joint. Install vacuum breakers for cold water service. Inspect and leak test threaded and soldered joints. Braze medical clean copper joints. Repair, inspect, and leak test threaded, brazed, soldered, and swaged joints. Clean and cut brass pipe, copper tube, and fittings for oxygen service. Install single point fume hood plumbing system. Install front load vacuum breakers. Correctly complete a plumbing checklist. Signoff after successful pass. Designs and custom fits plumbing for unique specials without the aid of specific engineering drawings. Assists Hood Team Leader with planning duties of plumbing Associates in accordance with daily and weekly shipping schedules using the Kewaunee Priority List. Provides details to Engineering for plumbing methods, changes, and special devices needed for customer required special plumbing systems. Trains new associates in performing plumbing methods and duties.
