About The Position

Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is currently seeking a Plumber Maintenance Worker III to join the Institute’s Facilities Team. Under general supervision, the Plumber Maintenance Worker III will perform routine and emergency maintenance, repair, modification and install, maintains and repairs a wide variety of commercial plumbing systems. Inspects, repairs, installs, modifies and maintains plumbing fixtures in heating; water and drainage systems. This will also include identifying plumbing, and safety problems applicable to the installation and take necessary corrective action. The individual will perform necessary clerical duties associated with job and must able to read blue prints. Must be available for weekend on-call duties occasionally. Will perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Journeyman’s plumber license EE-98J.
  • 4+ years of directly-related maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Knowledge of steam, water, and natural gas distribution, system maintenance, and repair.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of plumbing problems.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the plumbing trade.
  • Ability to complete associated paperwork with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
  • Post-offer background check.
  • Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior documented experience working with HVAC-R, plumbing, boiler operations, supply and exhaust fans, pumps, evaporative coolers, air filtration systems, gas fired heaters and minor electrical experience.

Responsibilities
