About The Position

Tessera is seeking an experienced and dedicated Plumber Lead with a positive attitude. This role involves reviewing work assignments, ensuring timely completion of work orders, providing technical expertise, communicating with customers about repairs, assigning and tracking technicians' work, and reviewing completed work for quality. The Plumber Lead is responsible for plumbing-related work scheduling, quality control, and project closeout. This position requires inspecting structures, determining installation processes, communicating with work control, responding to customer inquiries, and ensuring work meets quality standards and contract requirements. The role also involves conducting inventory, maintaining, repairing, installing, inspecting, removing, replacing, and modifying various plumbing equipment and components, including water, sewer, gas, and compressed air systems. Responsibilities include removing blockages from drain lines and sewers, adjusting and repairing plumbing systems, and installing various fixtures and equipment. The Plumber Lead must apply all relevant codes (UMC and UPC), ensure manufacturer specifications are met, and ensure installations are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded, meeting environmental protection requirements. The role requires reading blueprints and work plans, utilizing mobile devices for record-keeping, and operating company vehicles and equipment. Maintaining and wearing required PPE is also essential.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of direct commercial or industrial experience required.
  • Municipality of Anchorage plumber license required.
  • State of Anchorage journeyman level plumber license required.
  • Alaska certificate of fitness required.
  • Personnel inspecting, testing, certifying, and making recommendations for corrective action for backflow preventers shall have a Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) certificate from the State of Alaska.
  • Personnel performing maintenance on backflow preventers shall have a journeymen plumber's license.
  • A valid state driver’s license is required with the ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
  • Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ID-compliant driver's license or an acceptable alternative, such as a U.S. passport or military ID, in accordance with the REAL ID Act.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
  • A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.

  • Three (3) years of mentoring and guiding a similar craftsman preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review work assignments for the Plumbing, Gas Fitter, Welder, Pipefitter, and General Maintenance areas and determine individual or partner task functional approach/delivery.
  • Ensure work orders are completed in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical expertise with the Site Manager for in-house or subcontract accomplishment.
  • Communicate and interact directly with the customer, informing the customer of unexpected or additional repairs and determining customer needs.
  • Assign, coordinate, and track technicians' work assignments as well as reviewing work orders, monitoring the safety and well-being of employees, and documenting completed assignments.
  • Review completed work for quality, completeness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for plumbing-related work scheduling, quality control of outcome, and project closeout.
  • Provide inspection of the structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of the structure resulting from the installation of pipe and locate and mark the position of the pipe and pipe connections, and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors.
  • Determine the best application and process to install a wide variety of plumbing fixtures, connections, and plumbing transit systems.
  • Communicate with the scheduler to update the status of repairs and estimate completion dates.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
  • Make difficult diagnoses and suggest solutions and repairs to the customer.

  • Ensure that QC inspections are corrected on time and followed up on.
  • Conduct supply and equipment inventory of storage areas.
  • Maintain, repair, install, inspect, remove, replace, and modify all plumbing equipment and components for water, sewer, swimming pools, inert gas, natural gas, air vacuum, compressed air systems, steam, and POL equipment.
  • Remove blockage from drain lines, both interior and exterior sewers within contract lines of demarcation, floor drains, fan coil units, air handling units, stacks, vents, and storm drainage systems.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace leaky joints, faucets, and other outlets as necessary to maintain proper and efficient operation of all related plumbing and steam fitting systems including, but not limited to, hot water systems, chilled water systems, potable water systems, compressed and vacuum air systems, valves, inert and natural gas systems, and other associated systems, equipment, and components.
  • Install and repair domestic, industrial, and commercial hot water heaters, hot water storage tanks, and plumbing fixtures, equipment, and components, including commodes, urinals, kitchen and utility sinks, water fountains, frost-proof hydrants, showers, bathtubs, shower pans, garbage disposals, dishwashers, fan and air handler coils, valves, pumps, and associated equipment and components.
  • Place and connect water, air, natural gas, sewage and water/storm fixtures to such as sewage lines, water closets, lavatories, showers, sinks, gas heaters, stoves, air compressor equipment, shop hydraulic vehicle lifts, cooling towers, grease traps, garbage disposals, dishwashers, floor drains, condensate and drip pans, circulation systems for heating and cooling systems, and associated equipment and components.
  • Apply all codes to installations, repairs, and maintenance to include UMC and UPC.
  • Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements.
  • Read and understand blueprints, work plans, and maps.
  • Utilize mobile maintenance and inspection devices to maintain a record of all service and repair activities.
  • Must be able to operate company-provided vehicles, trailers, and lifts, gas and electric powered small equipment.
  • Must maintain and wear PPE as required.
