About The Position

PCSI is seeking an experienced Plumber II (Facilities Pipe Fitter/Production Maintenance Support) to perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and installations for utility distribution systems. This position will report to the Project Manager/Foreman and is based in NAVSEA, San Diego. Typical work hours will be Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Class A, Certified Water Distribution Operator license required.
  • Cross-Connection Protection Certification, EPA certified required.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and appliances required for installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing fixtures.
  • Ability to follow maintenance instructions, service, diagnose systems and complete repairs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Able to effectively read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening.
  • Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI clearance and Common Access Card.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, minor repairs and installations for utility distribution systems.
  • Install, modify and repair new and existing utility, supply and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil and gas distribution systems, water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems and showers.
  • Use materials such as aluminum, copper, iron, nylon, lead, vinyl, PVC and rubber while having knowledge of their resistance to heat and acids, their strength and resiliency, and how to connect tubing made of different materials by using special fittings such as nylon to connect plastic and metal tubing.
  • Operate all power and hand tools used in pipefitting such as pipe bending, threading, and cutting machines, pneumatic hammers, electric hand drills and electric saws.
  • Maintain, repair, and rebuild a variety of domestic, commercial, and industrial heating, air conditioning and refrigeration units/systems.
  • Maintain, repair, replace or install plumbing supply and waste systems and components.
  • Make visual inspections for maintenance and/or repair deficiencies of affected facilities and fixtures.
  • Independently perform preventative, corrective and predictive maintenance tasks associated with the upkeep and operation of various types of equipment including but not limited to: Dust Hogs, Curing Oven, Media Blast Booths, and Power Coat Booths.
  • Troubleshoot by performing and/or assist SWRMC personnel in operational testing, removals/installations, alignments, assembly/disassembly and equipment inspections.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, gauging devices, and test equipment.
  • Read blueprints, technical manuals, and repair standards.
  • Assist the government to perform rigging and building crane operations.
  • Ensure proper operation of shop machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operational manuals.
  • Provide preventative maintenance on Divers Machine Barge.
