About The Position

HUTCO, INC. is seeking experienced 1st Class Pipe Fitters for a position in Houma, Louisiana. This role requires a minimum of 3 years of experience working in Shipyards. The Pipe Fitter will be responsible for the layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of pipe systems, fitting pipes, and preparing joints for welding according to blueprints and system requirements. The job involves working in confined spaces, manipulating loads, operating machinery, and working at various heights and on uneven surfaces.

Requirements

Must have at least 3 years of experience working in Shipyards.
Must pass hands-on skills test.
Must pass drug test and E-Verify.
Possession of Personal Protective Equipment: Hard Hat, Steel Toe Safety Boots, Safety Glasses, Gloves.

Responsibilities

Performs layout, fabrication, installation, testing, and repair of pipe systems.
Fits pipe and properly prepares joints for welding to meet the specific requirements of the system on which work is being done.
Works from blueprints and makes fabrication sketches from which another mechanic could fabricate a unit of pipe.
Comprehend blueprints, sketches, and templates.
Have knowledge of equipment, work processes, and techniques used for this role including the ability to perform all functions of the position in conformity with applicable regulations and generally observed safety practices.
Enter and move through manholes to reach and work in internally confined spaces.
Manipulate and transport loads up to 50 pounds over distances of up to 200 feet approximately 1 to 6 times during each 8 hour shift, occasionally 75 pounds.
Manipulate and operate all machines and tools essential to the performance of the position of Pipe Fitter.
Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights.
Traverse and negotiate uneven surfaces and uneven heights between dock and vessel.
Ascend and work at heights of up to 30 feet.
Stooping, squatting, twisting, kneeling, lifting, and reaching.
