About The Position

We are hiring for a PLC Technician who can troubleshoot and program equipment using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s) using Siemens, Allen-Bradley and etc. This role involves creating backup data for PLC and peripheral equipment, maintaining 5S in the department, setting up control programs on operator panels, troubleshooting electrical problems on automated equipment, and updating PLC and operator panel programs to reflect changes. The technician will conduct all business activities within legal requirements and provide support for Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies. Quality is emphasized, with adherence to ENA policies related to TS16949 and ISO 14001, and a focus on continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a 2 year college or technical school.
  • Minimum three years related experience in maintenance or programming role.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering design in the field of industrial automation, troubleshooting and servicing.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in industrial automotive plant environment.
  • Minimum one year experience with principle PLC manufacturers such as Allen-Bradley, GE Fanuc, or Siemens. Siemens preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to apply mathematical concepts and operations, including calculations, percentages, etc.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, and write simple correspondence.
  • Synthesize complex or diverse information; Collects and researches data; Uses intuition and experience to complement data; Designs workflows and procedures.
  • Understands business implications of decisions.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement of products for manufacturability.
  • Knowledge of engineering fundaments, mechanical systems, automotive systems, and exhaust systems.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Strives to continuously improve expertise, knowledge and skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electrical and safety design standards (NFPA, NEC, IEC/EN 62061, etc.) required a plus

Responsibilities

  • Create backup data for PLC and peripheral equipment and maintain backup location for programs.
  • Responsible for maintaining 5S in department and periodically participating with audit process.
  • Set up control programs on operator panels.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems on automated equipment.
  • Maintain and modify existing systems.
  • Update PLC and operator panel programs to reflect changes in processes or part numbers.
  • Conduct all business related activities for, and on the behalf of, company within the limits of applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements.
  • Provide support to, and compliance with, all local and corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) policies, procedures and other HSE related requirements.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and follows all ENA polices related to TS16949 and ISO 14001; looks for way to improve and promote quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
