About The Position

Georgia-Pacific is seeking an experienced PLC Electrical Technician for its plywood manufacturing facility in Dudley, North Carolina. This highly skilled hourly maintenance role requires safe work practices and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain manufacturing equipment and processes. Maintenance team members are expected to possess and continue refining multiple skills. The position pays $35 or more per hour based on experience and is eligible for a $3,000 sign-on bonus.

The role is expected to work 10-hour shifts Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. Training takes place on day shift for approximately two months before transitioning to a full-time night position. The facility manufactures Plytanium® plywood, siding, and related building products.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of electrical troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing setting.
• At least 1 year of PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience reading technical drawings and schematics.
• Experience troubleshooting pneumatic systems.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic equipment, circuits, and components.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks, including climbing ladders and working at heights or in confined spaces.
• Ability to work in a sawmill environment with dust, noise, heat, and cold conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Two-year technical degree.
• 5 or more years of PLC programming and troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

• Program and troubleshoot Control Logix programs.
• Read electrical schematics and equipment layouts.
• Assist with internal and corporate projects and upgrades.
• Troubleshoot and repair electronic and electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and replace control devices.
• Support electricians with difficult troubleshooting as needed.
• Follow plant safety and environmental guidelines and policies.
• Help meet or exceed production waste and quality goals.
• Work on any shift, including holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
