Player Development Professional
About The Position
The Player Development Professional creates an engaging, progressive learning environment that helps golfers of all skill levels improve and stay connected to the club. The role delivers high-quality instruction, builds member relationships, and encourages participation in coaching programs, events, and on-course play. It supports member activation, retention, and overall membership growth by inspiring confidence and enjoyment of golf. The position provides coaching and player development activities, plays golf with assigned members, delivers customized instruction and professional club fitting, manages coaching programs, develops a new-member pipeline, and organizes outreach events. The employee also follows club policies and safety practices, maintains relevant certifications, participates in briefings, and assists with additional tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Passion for playing golf and helping others improve.
- Strong interest in swing mechanics, athletic movement, and golf technology.
- Engaging, approachable personality and ability to build confidence and connection in students.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet position deadlines.
- Availability to work on weekends and/or holidays as required.
Nice To Haves
- PGA/LPGA Professional Certification.
- Previous experience in golf instruction, coaching, or the golf industry.
- Strong understanding of golf fundamentals and player development concepts.
- Ability to work effectively with golfers of all ages and skill levels.
Responsibilities
- Provide coaching and player development activities, including swing assessments, lessons, clinics, and engagement events.
- Play golf regularly with an assigned group of members to encourage participation, improve retention, and build long-term relationships.
- Enhance player performance through customized instruction and professional club fitting.
- Plan, execute, and manage junior, adult, beginner, and social coaching programs that meet minimum participation goals.
- Drive membership growth by developing and managing a strong new-member pipeline.
- Organize and execute outreach events to activate members, attract new golfers, and increase engagement.
- Assist others as needed and take on additional tasks assigned by management.
- Follow company, club, and department policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Maintain professionalism and a commitment to excellence in interactions with members, colleagues, and staff.
- Follow safe working practices, comply with safety guidelines, and encourage others to do the same.
- Take initiative in personal and professional growth and maintain required role-related certifications.
- Address and resolve challenges using available resources, working with regional and corporate teams to support club operations.
- Attend daily briefings and participate in required activities.
