About The Position

This is a seasonal position at Mystic Creek Golf Course and Banquet Center in Milford, MI. The role involves a variety of duties including pro shop operations, starter/ranger duties, and golf cart attendant responsibilities. The position requires interaction with golfers, managing reservations and payments, monitoring play on the course, enforcing rules, and maintaining course appearance. Employees are expected to wear a provided uniform and demonstrate reliable attendance. The season typically runs from April through October, with potential extensions based on weather, and involves working 20-40 hours per week across a 7-day operation.

Requirements

Minimum age of 18 years for all tasks (16 years to work the range, carts, clean-up, and detail work).
Some knowledge of the game of golf, including proper golfing etiquette.
Ability to operate cash register/computer system.
Ability to keep records and prepare reports in a timely manner.
Ability to follow oral instructions.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Ability to utilize tact and diplomacy in dealing with fellow employees, the public and enforcing course rules.
Ability to maintain contact with golfers.
Ability to operate and communicate via two-way radio.
Ability to regularly lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds.
Valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
Satisfactory completion of background check (sex offender registry if applicable).
Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen that tests for illegal drugs as defined by the Federal Drug Free Workplace Act but not those legalized under Michigan law.

Responsibilities

Perform pro shop, starter/ranger, and golf cart attendant duties.
Answer the phone and make tee time reservations.
Receive patron payments for fees, merchandise, and snack bar items.
Oversee individual golfing parties and monitor their play on the course.
Patrol the course, monitor pace of play, and enforce course rules and policies.
Maintain course appearance.
Prepare power carts for golfers or for service, and retrieve carts from golfers.
Wash and clean carts and return them to the storage area.
Maintain the cart outside service area.
Wear provided uniform (shirt & name badge).
Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
