About The Position

Mystic Creek Golf Course and Banquet Center is seeking a Player Assistant. This is a seasonal position typically running from April through October, with potential to extend to March through November depending on weather. The role involves working 20 to 40 hours per week and requires availability for various shifts, including frequent evenings, weekends, and holidays, as the golf course operates seven days a week from early morning to late evening. Extended time off during the season is very limited. As an employee, you will receive a free season pass to Camp Dearborn and discounts on food, non-alcoholic beverages, and golf-related items.

Requirements

Minimum age of 18 years for all tasks (16 years for range, carts, clean-up, and detail work).
Some knowledge of the game of golf, including proper golfing etiquette.
Ability to operate a cash register/computer system.
Ability to keep records and prepare reports in a timely manner.
Ability to follow oral instructions.
Strong verbal communication skills.
Ability to utilize tact and diplomacy in dealing with fellow employees, the public, and enforcing course rules.
Ability to maintain contact with golfers.
Ability to operate and communicate via two-way radio.
Ability to regularly lift and carry a minimum of 25 pounds.
Valid State of Michigan Driver’s License.
Satisfactory completion of background check (sex offender registry if applicable) and a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Responsibilities

Perform pro shop, starter/ranger, and golf cart attendant duties.
Answer the phone, make tee time reservations, and handle payments for fees, merchandise, and snack bar items.
Oversee golfing parties and monitor their play on the course.
Patrol the course, monitor pace of play, enforce course rules and policies, and maintain course appearance.
Prepare power carts for golfers or for service, and retrieve carts from golfers.
Wash and clean carts and return them to the storage area.
Maintain the cart outside service area.
Wear the provided uniform (shirt & name badge).
Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
