About The Position

The Play Area Attendant (PAA) is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all park patrons and partners.  This position will assist the Events and Operations teams, as well as other seasonal staff in site cleanliness and safety at Washington Park and Ziegler Park in accordance with established policies and procedures. PAA’s provide on-site support for 3CDC children’s programming; including activities such as reading to visitors, engaging groups of childrens with games, as well as utilizing on-site tools to foster a creative and safe space for all patrons.  PAA’s are integral to our success at supplying a quality experience to each and every visitor to Washington and Ziegler Park.   (This is an hourly seasonal position with the possibility of permanent employment).

Requirements

  • Personable, positive and enthusiastic attitude with capability to deal effectively with people (both internal and external).
  • Be able to work holidays, evenings and weekends.
  • Must able to pass background check.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and work as part of a team.
  • Ability to have positive communication with children and chaperones.
  • Ability to make good decisions quickly in stressful situations.
  • Sense of initiative with desire to become truly involved in the operations of the Parks.
  • Must be able to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Able to spend at least 8 hours standing in the elements.
  • Additional mental requirements:  compare, decide direct, problem solve, analyze, instruct, and interpret.

Nice To Haves

  • Early childhood education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all park patrons, make eye contact and engage visitors to the space and/or events with a friendly greeting.
  • Engage park patrons if their behavior conflicts with a posted rule or regulation.
  • Ensure play equipment and/or other park facilities are in good working condition for every guest.
  • Report all incidents, concerns and/or repairs to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Foster positive social interactions with and amongst playground patrons.
  • Promote healthy activities and engagement with children.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the playground throughout the shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
