About The Position

Knape & Vogt is looking for a Plating Lab Technician II to join their industry-leading team. This role involves working within the plating department to observe and maintain chemical tank operations, inspect racks on the plating and powder coat lines, and conduct analytical laboratory work to support plating operations and ensure wastewater compliance. Requirements

  • Previous construction, plating or plumbing experience
  • Prior experience in plating, wastewater, or chemical operations environments
  • Willingness and ability to learn
  • Prior Experience working with MS Office Suite and Windows Operating Systems
  • Ability to work in a Chemical Manufacturing Environment and work around tanks and in tight spaces with hazardous chemicals
  • Physically capable of performing all duties and functions including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Observe and maintain chemical tank operations
  • Inspect racks on the plating and powder coat lines
  • Conduct analytical laboratory work to support plating operations and ensure wastewater compliance
  • Adjust process chemistry or process controls, in consultation with a lead or engineering
  • Handle hazardous chemicals and regulate wastes
  • Perform inspections of work areas, equipment or storage areas as directed by a lead or supervisor
  • Collect process, analytical, or chemical samples and perform chemical analyses including titrations, atomic absorption spectroscopy, colorimetry, gravimetric analysis, etc.
  • Calculate mass balances on process tanks and determine chemical additions
  • Clean and maintain chemical tanks, pumps, process piping, electrical busywork, and fluid systems
  • Assist in the operation of the Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant
