About The Position

The Platform Firmware Architect oversees the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust, scalable software systems. The role works with cross-functional teams—including software developers, system administrators, project managers, engineering groups, and other stakeholders—to develop solutions that integrate with existing infrastructure and provide value to end users. It ensures system efficiency, reliability, and performance, and guides team members in developing validation execution plans for new technologies. The position requires working in the office four days per week. The architect provides firmware and software systems leadership across complex products and platforms, from requirements gathering and solution design through development, testing, and integration. The role also supports innovation and the adoption of new technologies, while mentoring less-experienced staff.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
Typically 7–10 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming, or a related field.
8+ years of firmware development or architecture experience.
Experience with BIOS/UEFI and embedded systems.
Experience with docking station and notebook PC architecture.
Experience with USB-C and Power Delivery.
Experience with USB, PCIe, and I2C.
Security firmware experience.
ODM collaboration experience.
Programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
Experience with embedded systems, firmware development, embedded Linux, system architecture, device drivers, and hardware/firmware integration.
Experience with Git, CI/CD, Agile/Scrum, code reviews, and system design reviews.
Knowledge of secure boot, firmware update architecture, device identity, cryptography fundamentals, and security compliance.

Experience with Zephyr RTOS.

Responsibilities

Oversee installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
Monitor and test application performance, identify potential bottlenecks and solutions, and work with developers to implement fixes.
Optimize software systems for performance, scalability, and resource efficiency.
Gather system engineering requirements for infrastructure components in collaboration with engineering groups and other stakeholders.
Lead multiple project teams of software systems engineers through design and development stages for complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration.
Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners on software systems design and development.
Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards, providing feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk.
Provide domain-specific expertise and software systems leadership to cross-organization projects, programs, and activities.
Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into software systems design projects and activities.
Provide guidance and mentorship to less-experienced staff members.
Guide team members in developing validation execution plans for new technologies.
