About The Position

Quilter is hiring a Senior or Staff Platform Engineer to lead customer-facing deployments and integrations of Quilter in enterprise environments. Quilter uses AI to automate printed circuit board placement and routing. The Platform team builds infrastructure for compute-intensive workloads and supports both Quilter’s cloud service and customer-managed deployments. The engineer will own systems from design through operation and help shape the technical direction of a growing team. The role works directly with customer engineering and IT teams, as well as Quilter’s go-to-market team, to carry deployments from discovery through validation and handoff. Customer conversations, identity integration, and hands-on troubleshooting are central to the position. The engineer will also build automation and diagnostic tools with the team responsible for the shared deployment platform, using lessons from each engagement to improve future deployments. Success means customers reach a validated deployment, can sign in through their identity provider with the intended access, and understand their operating responsibilities and support paths. Installations and upgrades should become easier to repeat, while recurring deployment and identity issues are addressed through shared tooling and product improvements.

Requirements

  • Experience delivering and supporting production software in cloud or customer-managed environments, with ownership through deployment and operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with external customers or partners on technical implementation, integration, or troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and debugging OIDC-based SSO with enterprise identity providers such as Microsoft Entra ID or Okta.
  • Understanding of OAuth 2.0 fundamentals, tokens, claims, and application access, with the ability to resolve integration issues alongside customer IT teams.
  • Practical Kubernetes and container fluency, including inspecting and debugging workloads, understanding deployment configuration, and investigating networking, storage, or permissions failures.
  • Solid cloud infrastructure fundamentals, including compute, networking, IAM, and storage.
  • Experience using infrastructure as code and building maintainable automation.
  • Ability to read application code, follow logs and traces, and write tools or integrations in a language such as Python or Go.
  • Clear verbal and written communication across technical audiences, including asking discovery questions, explaining uncertainty, teaching effectively, and providing concrete action plans.
  • Strong ownership and judgment, including following through, escalating when needed, making sensible scope tradeoffs, and collaborating to turn one-off fixes into lasting improvements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building reusable installers, upgrade checks, or diagnostic tooling for customer-managed deployments.
  • Experience with Helm, Terraform, and deployments across AWS, Azure, or customer-managed Kubernetes.
  • Experience with on-premises, restricted-network, offline, hybrid, or bring-your-own-cloud deployments.
  • Familiarity with observability and support tooling for environments where direct production access is limited.
  • Experience supporting security-sensitive enterprise customers or working with their IT and security review processes.
  • Familiarity with compute-intensive workloads, GPUs, or engineering software.
  • AWS experience is particularly useful; experience in other cloud platforms transfers well.

Responsibilities

  • Lead customer deployment planning by understanding customer environments, goals, and constraints; identifying dependencies; agreeing on success criteria; and establishing a path to deployment.
  • Deploy and integrate Quilter using Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, networking, storage, identity providers, and access controls across customer-managed and dedicated environments.
  • Configure and debug OIDC single sign-on integrations with customer IT teams, including application registration, login flows, claims, and access mapping.
  • Maintain identity integrations through credential and policy changes, and turn recurring fixes into setup guides and automated validation.
  • Investigate failures across application and infrastructure boundaries, troubleshoot effectively with limited access, and keep customers and internal teams informed about findings and next steps.
  • Partner with Platform engineers to make installations and upgrades repeatable through deployment automation, preflight checks, configuration validation, upgrade and rollback procedures, and diagnostics.
  • Help customers integrate Quilter into their workflows by building practical scripts and integrations around supported interfaces and coordinating with product and engineering teams.
  • Identify recurring customer needs that should become shared capabilities.
  • Validate deployments and identity integrations; teach customer teams how to use and support their environments; and document shared operating responsibilities and escalation paths.
  • Connect customer needs to engineering priorities, explain tradeoffs, distinguish confirmed capabilities from proposed work, manage scope, and coordinate commitments with engineering and go-to-market partners.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity benefits
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Regular team events and offsites (~4x / year)
