About The Position

The Platform Developer is responsible for the development and delivery of end-user APIs and the platform on which end-user web/mobile apps run. This role requires DevOps and API expertise with contributions to Backend and Data modeling and ask tight collaboration with Product Developers (Fullstack), Product Managers and broader engineering. It operates within Xona Product team, the ideal candidate is comfortable with customer interactions.

This is a foundational role with the opportunity to shape how Xona’s end-user Products scales globally as our constellation grows.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Platform engineering, DevOps or Backend roles
• Expertise in API development and integration (REST, MQTT, event-driven, API gateway)
• Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS), infrastructure-as-code, containerization and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
• Proficiency in Python or Go for platform tooling and automations
• Experience evaluating and integrating SaaS to accelerate delivery
• Networking skills: VPCs, DNS, TLS, load balancing
• Comfort operating with ambiguity and high ownership in a fast-moving startup environment
• Fluent in French and English

Nice To Haves

• Experience with geospatial data infrastructure or real-time data systems (time-series, streaming)
• Familiarity with satellite communications and ground segment
• Reliability engineering, advanced Networking are assets
• Security engineering instincts: threat modeling, zero-trust architecture, secrets management
• Exposure to multi-region and multi-cloud deployments
• Experience engineering with AI
• Prior experience in a startup or greenfield build-out
• Self-directed with a bias toward action — you identify gaps in the platform, propose solutions, and execute

Responsibilities

• Own the provisioning, deployment, security and observability of Xona’s end-user applications.
• Offer reliable CI/CD recipes that Product Developers can leverage.
• Own the end-user API — the developer interface that customers connect to.
• Support app development by contributing to backend, data model, database administration, aiming at performances and reliability.
• Support customer’s API integrations, with possibilities of forward-deployed engineering.
• Ensure platform-wide security posture, access controls, and compliance requirements are met
• Collaborate closely with Product Developers on API contracts, deployment targets and schedules.
