About The Position

The Platforms & Cloud Engineer is responsible for the design, administration, optimization, and security of the organization's Microsoft Azure cloud environment and supporting platform infrastructure. This role serves as the technical owner of cloud services, ensuring the availability, scalability, performance, and security of enterprise-hosted applications, systems, and services. The engineer partners with infrastructure, networking, security, and application teams to deliver reliable cloud solutions that align with business objectives, operational requirements, and technology strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or like program or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of progressive experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, cloud platforms, or systems engineering environments
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience administering and supporting Microsoft Azure in a production environment.
  • Active Directory/DNS/DHCP/VPN/Load Balancing experience.
  • Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing with users of differing technical knowledge to translate business requirements and information.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Certified in Azure Administration, Solution Architecture, Security Engineering
  • Experience in HA manufacturing environments
  • Experience with Cisco UCS, VMWare, ESXi, Pure Storage
  • Experience with AWS Cloud Solution Architecture

Responsibilities

  • Lead and foster our “people first” culture.
  • Serve as the primary owner and administrator of the organization's Microsoft Azure environment, ensuring platform stability, performance, and security
  • Design, deploy, maintain, and optimize Azure infrastructure, including virtual networks, virtual machines, storage, backup, recovery, and platform services
  • Manage Azure governance, including subscriptions, management groups, policies, resource tagging, cost controls, and compliance requirements
  • Monitor cloud infrastructure health, availability, capacity, and performance, proactively addressing issues before business impact occurs
  • Implement and maintain cloud security controls, identity management, conditional access policies, and security best practices in partnership with cybersecurity teams
  • Lead cloud architecture and platform modernization initiatives to improve scalability, resilience, operational efficiency, and service delivery
  • Participate in infrastructure lifecycle management activities, including upgrades, migrations, patching, and capacity planning
  • Work closely with outside vendors for quoting and ordering new products
  • Work closely with outside vendors for managed services for cloud base environments in Azure and AWS
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure, cloud, networking, and platform-related incidents and problems
  • Participate in on-call support and incident response activities as required to maintain critical service availability
  • Track, monitor and document interaction on tickets for timely resolution in a high availability manufacturing environment. (After-hours, weekend and holiday support are sometimes required)
  • Some travel to other facilities in Arkansas and Nevada is required
  • Interact and work closely with all facets of the business
  • Understand functional requirements of the manufacturing organization and translating them into actionable deliverables for IT
  • Liaison with other IT disciplines (Network, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Applications) to ensure proper support of projects and systems in operations
