About The Position

GrayWolf is hiring Plate Welders for Perdue Hill, AL. This is for a 10-day outage starting 09/13/2026. Per diem is eligible for those over 60 miles away. A Flux & Stick Test is required. Requirements

  • At least three (3) years minimum heavy industrial field experience as a Welder using FCAW Flux Core (dual shield welding) on steel plates.
  • Completion of welding certification(s) required by company and/or client.
  • Must have a locking toolbox and tools necessary to perform the job.
  • Must be able to successfully complete all required pre-hire requirements.
  • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
  • Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
  • Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
  • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
  • PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.

Nice To Haves

  • Welders who also have experience in TIG upon hiring at site, may be asked to complete further weld testing to weld on Inconel liner.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely around the hazards associated with the construction field.
  • Use hand, electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools in a safe manner.
  • Correctly read and understand plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals, and/or blueprints and make competent decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Visualize objects in three-dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Secure components together applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining, weld shrinkage, and welding techniques.
  • Bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Prepare material for welding by cutting or grinding using pipe cutters, hammer and chisel, cutting torch, and/or grinder.
  • Set material in stands, racks, hoists, etc. for welding – filet and groove welding.
  • Set up equipment and weld parts using arc, gas shielded arc, self shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, and reshaping.
  • Reassemble parts using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools.
