About The Position

This position is responsible for operating computer-to-plate (CTP) systems, Attiro CleanOut Units/Processors, and Nela Bending equipment in support of daily print production of The Boston Globe. The role requires strong attention to detail, technical proficiency, effective interdepartmental communication, and the ability to inspect printing plates for defects while maintaining equipment to established standards. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • 2–3 years of prior experience in plate making or a related pressroom role

Responsibilities

  • Produce digital photopolymer plates in accordance with production schedules and quality standards
  • Collaborate closely with the Senior Foreman, Machinists, and Electricians to ensure plate lines operate at peak performance
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all plate room activities
  • Process all publications and manage day-to-day operational issues as they arise
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for other departments, communicating critical information clearly and effectively across shifts
  • Work independently with a high degree of accountability, maintaining focus under pressure while meeting all attendance and punctuality requirements
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability, embracing new responsibilities, processes, and ideas as operational needs evolve
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and maintain a safety-conscious mindset at all times
