About The Position

This role is for a Plastics Tooling & Changeover Technician who thrives on precision setups, fast changeovers, and helping production hit its targets. The technician will be responsible for leading minor and major changeovers on Lyle Thermoforming and OMG lines to meet schedule demands. This includes swapping and staging inserts and molds, delivering a dialed-in first run that clears all Quality Department criteria, and assisting inline changeovers by performing basic extrusion operator activities and troubleshooting process hiccups. The technician will also be responsible for repairing forming molds and trim tools, performing upkeep on thermoforming and labeling automation, partnering with maintenance to restore down lines, and using various tools to validate setups. Additionally, the role involves training operators on machine controls, tracking OEE, maintaining records, documenting tasks in the CMMS, and maintaining a clean workspace. The technician will support production/packing as needed and work effectively with minimal oversight.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Set Up Technician Sr. Specialist training completed, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Sharp analytical mindset, solid technical foundation, and strong problem-solving habits.
  • Self-starter who collaborates well with a team.
  • Willingness to work overtime and off shifts when business needs shift.

Responsibilities

  • Lead minor and major changeovers on Lyle Thermoforming and OMG lines to meet schedule demands.
  • Swap and stage inserts and molds—both offline in the tool room and online at the equipment.
  • Deliver a dialed-in first run that clears all Quality Department criteria (Green Time) and coordinate release with Quality and Supervision.
  • Assist inline changeovers by performing basic extrusion operator activities and troubleshooting process hiccups.
  • Repair forming molds and trim tools.
  • Perform upkeep on thermoforming and labeling automation.
  • Partner with maintenance to quickly restore down lines; make necessary adjustments and escalate complex changes to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other gauges to validate setups; read and operate the machine computer console and train operators on controls.
  • Track OEE and jump in wherever performance slips; maintain precise records of each changeover.
  • Document tasks, time, and parts usage in the CMMS; maintain a clean, orderly workspace daily.
  • Support production/packing as needed and work effectively with minimal oversight.
  • Other duties as assigned.
