About The Position

As the Plastics Engineer, you will lead process development and improvements focusing on safety, quality, delivery and cost for a leading supplier in the rail, construction, and heavy truck industries. Develop and document process, tooling, and new product development for thermoformed products. Optimize productivity, reduce cycle time, improve quality, reduce scrap, and reduce operating costs through continual process improvement. Initiate and assist with capital improvement projects aimed at improving plant capabilities through new equipment purchase and/or facility modification. Develop and monitor training plans to ensure personnel are versed in new process requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Plastics, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or similar engineering field
  • Minimum of 5 years direct manufacturing experience
  • Solidworks and AutoCad experience a plus
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen or other “Lean” tools
  • Analytical skills for troubleshooting
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • General knowledge or experience with the following processes: Thermoforming, Reaction Injection Molding - RIM, Compression Molding – SMC, Material Testing, Assembly Bonding
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret shop prints and drawings.
  • Ability to interface with production and address their needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Solidworks and AutoCad experience
