About The Position

This role is for a Plastic Extrusion Operator on the Third Shift (10:45 PM - 6:45 AM, Sunday through Friday). The operator will be responsible for operating manufacturing equipment, following Standard Operating Procedures, and maintaining Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost standards. The position requires the ability to perform various assignments daily and requires full-time presence. Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or GED required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team, and complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to read, comprehends, follows, and recommend improvements to working instructions and procedures.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Employees are expected to complete required safety training, use personal protective equipment (PPE), report unsafe conditions, and follow protocols for fall protection, lockout/tagout (LOTO), hot work, and confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to obtain certification in a minimum of HTH Operator level 1 within the time frame specified on each training checklist.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and be certified on a variety of manufacturing equipment.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost standards.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of extrusion machinery and plastics processes.
  • Comply with and understand all standard operating procedures, control plans, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Maintain accuracy in production reporting, downtime, sampling, and data entry.
  • Read and interpret the Discrete Job Routing Sheet and Repetitive(s).
  • Complete necessary computer transactions or paperwork.
  • Maintain established production standards.
  • Accountable for personal goals and departmental metrics.
  • Successfully complete training and operate PIT’s.
  • Comply with Quality Standard ISO/TS 16949, Environmental Standard ISO 14001, and BRC/IOP.
  • Perform 6s audits, Layered audits, and participate in corrective actions captured during audits.
  • Ensure that the plastics packaging process working environment is maintained in a clean and hygienically appropriate manner, and that products made in Building 3 are protected from tampering.
  • Ability to work overtime as required or requested, including extended shifts and weekends.
  • Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
  • Ability and willingness to be cross trained in any other functions as required or requested.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of any incidents or situations that would trigger implementation of the contingency plan.
  • May perform emergency response duties as required by the department supervisor or manager.
  • Move chemicals and or wastes within the facility and maintain chemical storage areas in a clean, orderly manner.
  • Follow applicable Environmental Health and Safety department procedures.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Promotes a culture of safety within the organization by leading by example and encouraging others to prioritize safety.
  • Promptly reports any safety incidents or near-misses to the appropriate personnel and contributes to the investigation process.
  • Active participation in safety-related programs and initiatives is required as necessary. This includes involvement in the safety committee on a rotating schedule, as well as participation in Risk Assessments, Exposure Hunts, department inspections, and change management activities.
