About The Position

The P/U Operator is responsible for supporting plant operations and maintenance activities during evening hours. This role requires strong technical knowledge of plant systems, troubleshooting capabilities, and hands-on mechanical skills. The ideal candidate must successfully participate in Reworld’s 5-week operational trainee program.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform welding, light fabrication, and plumbing-related repairs.
  • Ability to work independently during evening and overnight operations.

  • Ability to lead contractors and assist with operational training initiatives.
  • Willingness to participate in confined space rescue responsibilities and permit-related activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct steam blows, line warm-ups, and customer steam line startups.
  • Perform weekly steam line walkdowns and quarterly steam trap audits.
  • Provide vacation relief coverage for operations and supervisory roles, as assigned.
  • Rebuild and repair primary and secondary sump pumps.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly valve greasing activities.
  • Complete sootblower preventive maintenance, including packing adjustments and pressure checks.
  • Repair DBA and EFW drum gauge glasses.
  • Clean heat exchangers supporting HVAC systems in the boiler house, administration buildings, CEMS, and precipitators.
  • Order and install filters for air handling units, cooling fans, and related equipment.
  • Charge glycol systems for heating and chiller systems to required gravity specifications.
  • Provide shift coverage for absent operators, including Shift Supervisor, Control Room Operator, Assistant Control Room Operator, Tipping Floor Operator, and, when necessary, Crane Operator or BEO responsibilities.
  • Assist maintenance teams during nighttime repairs requiring additional manpower, including roller grate clutch repairs, gearbox replacements, drag repairs, and crane repairs.
  • Support plant operations during upsets, tube failures, or other emergent operational events.
  • Lead contractor groups during outages and specialized cleaning activities, including blasting, water washing, and condenser cleaning.
  • Train new operators on plant systems, operating procedures, and facility layout.
  • Serve as a member of the confined space rescue team and act as a designated entry supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve turbine generator issues reported through Teams communications.
  • Maintain and replace filters on equipment including: Atlas and IR air compressors TG lube oil systems Generator air filters Cooling fans (ID, OFA, and ULCs) Crane systems Logic rooms and control rooms AVRS systems 5kV and 480V rooms HVAC systems supporting administration and operations areas
  • Act as a qualified permit technician.
  • Utilize welding, light fabrication, and plumbing skills to complete minor repairs.
  • Grease A/E main bearings and shear walls twice weekly.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Engineer and/or Shift Supervisor.
