About The Position

The Plant Trainer develops and delivers comprehensive training programs that enhance workforce capabilities, promote safety excellence, and support operational goals at our Rhinelander manufacturing facility. The Plant Trainer role partners with associates across all departments to build skills, improve performance, and drive continuous improvement through the Printpack Continuous Skills Development initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma OR equivalent experience
  • Proficient formal or informal training experience preferred
  • Expert-level knowledge in manufacturing processes
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with Workday Learning (preferred) or similar LMS platforms
  • Ability to create training materials using modern technologies and media platforms
  • Understanding of manufacturing quality standards and processes
  • Expert-level technical knowledge in specialized manufacturing processes
  • Understanding of industrial safety practices and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to develop comprehensive training programs and competency frameworks
  • Capability to assess departmental skills and knowledge needs
  • Experience creating One Point Lessons, Work Instructions, and multimedia resources
  • Skills in developing and maintaining skills matrices (CI element trees)
  • Ability to track training completion metrics and effectiveness measurements
  • Skills in generating training analytics and progress reports
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to effectively listen, build rapport and influence at all levels
  • Strong presentation and facilitation skills for diverse audiences
  • Effective communication with Plant Leadership, Operations, HR, and supervisors
  • Proven ability to develop and manage high-performing teams
  • Skills in providing ongoing support to associates at various skill levels
  • Experience leading comprehensive new associate orientation programs
  • Ability to think creatively and drive continuous improvement initiatives

  • Ability to work in a high-hazard environment, including adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and noisy surroundings
  • Ability to maneuver the production floor, including the ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Visual acuity to read computer screens, reports, and documentation
  • Manual dexterity to operate computer equipment, production equipment, and mobile devices
  • Hearing ability to communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards while working in a manufacturing facility with high-hazard materials
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)
  • Adherence to all plant safety protocols and procedures
  • Participation in ongoing safety training programs
  • Regular exposure to high-hazard materials and equipment requires strict adherence to safety protocols
  • High-confidentiality work environment requiring discretion and professionalism
  • Regular interaction with all levels of management and associates across multiple sites
  • Support Corporate and local Food Safety initiatives and programs as necessary

  • Must be 18+ years old and pass pre-employment screening (drug test, background check)

Responsibilities

  • Drive safety awareness and engagement throughout the plant organization
  • Foster a learning environment that promotes safety-conscious behaviors
  • Assess departmental skills and knowledge needs to meet business unit and plant goals
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive skills matrices (element trees) for each department and position
  • Create training materials including One Point Lessons, Work Instructions, and multimedia resources
  • Design and implement competency frameworks aligned with operational requirements
  • Assign, maintain, and promote training activities using Workday Learning
  • Track training completion metrics and effectiveness measurements
  • Report training analytics and collaborate with department leaders on progress
  • Lead new employee onboarding and conduct comprehensive skills assessments
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to associates at various skill levels
  • Schedule regular progress reviews with supervisors and departmental trainers
  • Promote engagement and adoption of the Continuous Skills Development Pillar
  • Support plant-wide improvement projects and initiatives through targeted training
  • Leverage new technologies and media platforms to enhance training delivery
