About The Position

ATACO Steel Products Corp. is seeking a hands-on Plant Supervisor to provide day-to-day leadership and direction to our production team in a union manufacturing environment. This position is designed to provide leadership continuity across both production shifts. The Plant Supervisor will maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor, build relationships with employees, establish clear expectations, coach and develop the team, and ensure consistent communication and accountability throughout the operation. While manufacturing experience is important, this position is primarily a people leadership role. We are looking for someone who knows how to lead employees, address issues directly and professionally, and create an environment where employees have the direction, resources, and accountability needed to succeed.

Requirements

  • Previous supervisory, leadership, or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong people leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, motivate, and hold employees accountable.
  • Clear and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience handling employee performance and workplace concerns.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • General understanding of manufacturing operations, safety, quality, and production processes.
  • Basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in metal stamping, fabrication, welding, machining, or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience working in a union manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • experience working with ERP or manufacturing systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and direction to production employees across both shifts.
  • Maintain a consistent presence on the production floor and serve as a leadership connection between shifts.
  • Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and workplace conduct.
  • Prioritize, assign, and direct daily work based on production requirements and changing business needs.
  • Communicate production priorities, staffing concerns, and other important information between shifts and departments.
  • Monitor production performance, including productivity, labor efficiency, scrap, downtime, quality, and schedule attainment.
  • Identify and address production, staffing, quality, and safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate the effective use of employees, equipment, materials, and other resources.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, processes, productivity, and overall efficiency.
  • Ensure employees follow company safety requirements, quality standards, policies, procedures, work rules, and applicable collective bargaining agreement requirements.
  • Partner closely with the Plant Manager, Human Resources, Quality, Production Control, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve employee and operational issues.
  • Participate in interviewing, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and employee development.
  • Identify employee training and development needs and ensure employees have the tools and resources necessary to perform successfully.
  • Recognize strong performance while addressing performance, attendance, and conduct concerns consistently and promptly.
