About The Position

Chastain’s client transforms packaged food waste into renewable energy and nutrient-rich compost, creating local jobs and healthier neighborhoods. Their award-winning campus operates one of the region’s only integrated depackaging and anaerobic digestion systems. The Role: Chastain is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Supervisor to oversee the operation of our client’s food waste anaerobic digester recycling facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the digester's operation, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and safety, as well as managing a team of operators and technicians. The plant supervisor will be responsible for the operation of an 85,000 ton per year organics recycling facility. They will manage facility operations to continually improve and optimize throughput to meet and exceed production goals; champion best practices to improve process quality, safety, and reliability; operate to maintain compliance will local/state/federal permit requirements, general regulations, and product quality standards. The plant supervisor demonstrates knowledge and understanding of the facility operation and how each function correlates to the other processes and contributes to the overall facility performance. The plant supervisor should possess excellent analytic skills and disciplined problem-solving techniques. In this role, they must be able to effectively communicate complex and technical material to other managers, staff, regulators, and outside interests. The plant supervisor must understand standard business functions including process costing, purchasing, human resource management, and how to positively interact with the public. Reviews and contributes to standard operating procedures (SOPs) that encompass all facility processes and workflows. Ensures that SOPs are maintained, reviewed, and followed. Manages data and record keeping following proper document control procedures and change management. Manage and supervise plant personnel, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all environmental regulations. Candidate should be equally comfortable on the processing floor as behind a desk. Requirements

  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, wastewater treatment, or recycling
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in a technical field, such as civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. on a regular basis is required
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time is required

Nice To Haves

  • Class K Wastewater Operator License or their Professional Engineer license within 12 months of employment
