As a Buyer/Planner at our milk facility, you'll be at the forefront of managing our supply chain and production scheduling processes. Your role will involve sourcing raw materials, negotiating contracts with suppliers, and ensuring timely delivery of ingredients to support our milk production operations. Additionally, you'll be responsible for developing production schedules, optimizing inventory levels, and coordinating with various departments to meet production targets while maintaining quality standards. Your strategic planning and procurement expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our milk facility. This position is located in San Leandro, CA.

Requirements

  • Experience in production supervision, supply chain, or procurement in a manufacturing or food production environment.
  • Strong understanding of purchasing, planning, and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices and vendor negotiations.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production staff, ensuring safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate raw material and packaging purchases to meet production demands.
  • Manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure timely deliveries.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory levels, preventing shortages or overages.
  • Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure supply chain alignment.
  • Analyze usage trends and forecast material needs based on production schedules.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce waste.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, regulatory, and company policies.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance management for team members.
  • Assist in budget planning and cost control related to purchasing and production.
