About The Position

This position is responsible for prioritizing the work of a team of machine operators, assistants, and helpers to ensure the department maintains profitable operational efficiencies, promotes a safe and proactive work environment, and provides the training and development necessary for individual and collective success. The Plant Superintendent will collaborate with other departments to provide quality products via on-time delivery, ensure the wellbeing of self and all employees by proactively addressing safety concerns, and actively participate in the plant safety system. This role also ensures environmental procedures and practices are followed, and coordinates and leads daily activities of the converting department in the areas of safety, quality, and maintenance. The Plant Superintendent will supervise employees in the everyday coordination, execution, and planning of operational efforts, enhance the knowledge and continuing education of applicable personnel, and mentor, coach, and develop a team of supervisors by providing guidance, feedback, and leadership support. Maintaining a positive relationship with plant management, supervisors, office, and operational employees is key. The role actively pursues measures to reduce downtime on plant equipment, identifies opportunities, and takes measures to reduce waste. The Plant Superintendent works with maintenance staff to provide understanding of machine needs in the areas of maintenance and lubrication, uses KPIs to measure results and communicate performance, and is responsible for overseeing the development of employees within the department to increase competency, understanding, and accountability for work performance. The role also leads training initiatives for designated employees and acts as the quality liaison for the crew, while scheduling and coordinating vacations and proper staffing levels. Maintaining well-documented paperwork for machine and operator efficiencies, end-of-shift reports, and disciplinary actions is also required.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in supervisor role
  • High school diploma required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • Must value safety as top priority
  • Strong communication skills and ability to handle difficult situations

Nice To Haves

  • Corrugated industry experience
  • 2- or 4-year degree preferred
  • Green belt / Six sigma certifications preferred
  • Experience with Amtech and/or CTI preferred

Responsibilities
