About The Position

This seasonal role runs from April through November, with the possibility of extending into December. This position is responsible to safely supervise and coordinate activities of project in asphalt paving, grading, milling, and concrete production.

Requirements

  • Over 2 years up to and including 4 years from post high school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in product line and supervisory role.
  • Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with people under high stress situations.
  • Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.

Nice To Haves

  • Paving Supervisor experience preferred.
  • CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee efficiency of gravel/base operation and produce quality gravel/base product.
  • Oversee efficiency of milling operation and base jobs to produce quality gravel /base product.
  • Oversee efficiency of paving operation to produce quality asphalt product.
  • Oversee quality and efficiency of equipment maintenance.
  • Communicate gravel/base crew needs with dispatch.
  • Communicate needs with plant.
  • Work with crews, inspectors, and subcontractors to complete projects.
  • Complete quality gravel/base jobs within specifications.
  • Complete necessary paperwork.
  • Deliver samples to lab.
  • Communicate crew needs with dispatch.

  • Communicate paving crew needs with dispatch.
  • Calculate number of trucks required to haul aggregate and/or asphalt according to capacity of vehicles, traffic conditions, distance from work site and productivity of drivers.
  • Communicate needs to plant.
  • Work with crews, inspectors, and subcontractors to complete projects.
  • Produce quality asphalt product within specifications.
  • Tour work site to ascertain progress in meeting time schedules and to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment.
  • Measure slope and thickness of paving to verify compliance with specifications.
  • Measure distances from reference points to locate boundaries of construction.
  • Directs work crews engaged in operation of vehicles.
  • Verifies curvature of graded surface using hand level.
  • Supervise bituminous paving crews, aggregate production crews or crews engaged in operating machines to tamp, roll and smooth surface for subgrade of highway.
  • Communicate needed information to employees.
  • Assist new employees.
  • Approve and submit work hours for crew and pertinent job information daily.
  • Always work safely and take action to prevent any and all unsafe actions, processes, and conditions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
