About The Position

Employees in this job are responsible for cleaning and applying protective coating to manufactured products. This involves loading and pushing baskets of parts through the washline, receiving and loading parts from various machinery, and advancing parts through tanks. Additionally, employees will tag parts, lift packed products, weigh count and stack parts with external threads by hand, and operate lab equipment to ensure quality specifications are met. Responsibilities also include cleaning and recharging tanks as needed.

  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense, understanding, carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to solve on the job problems.
  • Ability to operate lab equipment to check phosphate levels.
  • Must operate cranes and hoists.
  • Must operate a forklift and maintain forklift license (renewal every 3 years).
  • Ability to run floor scrubber.
  • Ability to perform basic housekeeping functions plant wide.
  • Must wear all required PPE and follow safety and work rules.

Responsibilities

  • Load and push baskets of parts through the washline.
  • Receive and load parts from various machinery throughout the plant onto the washline, transferring parts from skids to a hydraulic lift (approximately 2 feet high) manually.
  • Read tags and distinguish through which tanks each bin of parts should go.
  • Advance the parts in baskets or barrels through the tanks on the washline.
  • Tag parts appropriately and advance them on the rollers to the packing department.
  • Lift packed products from the packing line roller assembly to skids prior to shipment from the plant.
  • Weigh counting and stacking parts with external threads by hand.
  • Dip sample from each tank and take to lab.
  • Add chemicals and observe colors to determine correct properties of wash tank.
  • Count drops to make necessary additions/adjustments to bath material to meet quality specifications.
  • Clean and recharge tanks as needed (if bath material is out of specification).
