About The Position

The plant relief person must know and understand every job in the plant. Their hours vary from day to day, and their days off may vary from week to week. This role involves performing various jobs within the production department, including sanitation, receiving, HTST clean up, evaporator and dryer operation, liquid processing, powder operation, palletizing, rework, and janitor duties. The position requires the ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work in confined spaces. Maintaining a clean, orderly, and neat work area is essential. The role also includes assisting with break and lunch relief as needed. When not covering vacations, the individual will work in the powder plant department as assigned. Accurate and neat completion of all paperwork is required. The position is responsible for keeping floors, walls, machines, and pipes clean, ensuring all work is done properly and in a timely fashion, and working in a safe and sanitary manner. Adherence to all company policies, regular and reliable attendance, and support for SQF/QA, GMP, Safety policies, and production needs are critical. Food Safety and Quality are key responsibilities of this position. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Basic computation skills required.
  • English is required as the written and spoken language.
  • A well-modulated tonal volume is required with excellent diction skills needed.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a valid State of California Pasteurizer’s License.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a valid State of California Weigher’s and Sampler’s License.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a state of California Charm Test certification.
  • Must be able to acquire a Yard Truck Certification.
  • Must possess or be able to acquire a state issued Driver’s License Class C.
  • Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, gloves, and safety glasses must be used in the performance of duties.
  • Proper lifting techniques must be employed at all times.
  • General knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Must be able to stand on feet for at least a two-hour consecutive time period and up to 8-12 hours.
  • Lifts up to 58 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Carries 58 pounds on a repetitive basis.
  • Frequently pushes and pulls up to, but not limited to, 58 pounds in a repetitive manner.
  • Bends and stoops often.
  • Sometimes squats.
  • Occasionally requires kneeling/crawling.
  • Often twists and turns while carrying.
  • Occasionally climbs and/or balances.
  • Frequently reaches in a repetitive manner.
  • Frequently grasps and manipulates in a repetitive manner.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and understand all the “Standard Operating Procedures”.
  • Pasteurize milk and milk products as required by law.
  • Sample and weigh products as required by law.
  • Perform jobs on all shifts as requested by the production supervisor which may include sanitation, receiving, HTST clean up, evaporator and dryer operation, liquid processing, powder operation, palletizing, rework, janitor, or other jobs that may be created in the production department.
  • Climb stairs, ladders, and work in confined spaces.
  • Notify foreperson or supervisor if standards are not met.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly, and neat work area.
  • Assist with break and lunch relief as needed.
  • Work in the powder plant department as assigned when not covering vacations.
  • Complete all paperwork neatly and correctly.
  • Keep all floors, walls, machines, and pipes clean.
  • Ensure all work is done properly and in a timely fashion.
  • Work in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Follow all company Policies.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance at work.
  • Support and enforce SQF / QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
