About The Position

As the Plant Planner, you will coordinate key production-planning operations to support plant compliance with performance targets, manpower requirements, training governance, and continuous-improvement initiatives. You will serve as the conduit between operations, engineering, finance, IE, HR, unions and external stakeholders, ensuring schedules, budgets and communications align with plant goals and labor agreements.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ supervisory or equivalent experience in a production environment
  • 2–3 years’ experience as a plant planner in automotive or high-volume manufacturing
  • Direct manufacturing-floor experience; strong working knowledge of production processes
  • High level of analytical ability to solve complex planning challenges
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills: proven ability to lead, motivate and influence across all levels (including union partners)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentations to leadership
  • Familiarity with scheduling systems, GMS, SharePoint, ISO-14001, and quality-control procedures
  • Experience with formal problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, DMAIC)
  • Working knowledge of synchronous-manufacturing concepts

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply-chain management, or related field (master’s preferred)
  • Knowledge of vehicle assembly and stamping technologies
  • Proficiency with planning software and data-modeling tools
  • Completion of GM corporate training programs (e.g., Business Manager, Supervisor)

Responsibilities

  • Support plant compliance to performance targets by maintaining manpower flow and participating in production manpower meetings.
  • Facilitate training governance across Safety, GMS, Technical and other programs.
  • Manage the Plant “Plan for Change” meeting and follow-up action items.
  • Develop and implement communication and CI plans; coordinate staff communications and outside‐visit logistics.
  • Oversee the suggestion‐program reporting and interface with service groups on technical/production issues.
  • Maintain budgets and performance data; track project ROI and LMS metrics.
  • Administer plant SharePoint/Teams sites and keep BPD boards current.
  • Support Industrial Engineers with manpower analyses and modeling.
  • Ensure compliance with local/national labor agreements, safety procedures, and housekeeping standards.
  • Gather and synthesize input from internal and external customers to inform planning decisions.
  • Stay current on product developments and identify new learning or process-improvement opportunities.
