About The Position

As a Plant Operator, you will play an important role in the safe and efficient operation of our grain-processing facility. The position is responsible for receiving and shipping agricultural products, loading outbound railcars and trucks, unloading inbound deliveries, conducting quality checks, maintaining accurate records, supporting equipment operation and maintenance, and ensuring products meet required quality and quantity specifications. The successful candidate will demonstrate Agrocorp’s commitment to safety, teamwork, quality, effective communication, and excellent customer service while representing the company professionally in interactions with growers, truck drivers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when completing quality checks and operational records.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and willingness to assist with routine equipment maintenance.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe operating procedures.
  • Excellent internal and external customer-service skills.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Be able to safely lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs.).
  • Be able to stand for extended periods.
  • Be able to regularly bend, squat, climb stairs, and climb ladders.
  • Be able to perform the physical duties associated with plant and grain-processing operations.
  • Be able to work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year, including in adverse weather conditions.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment while working in designated areas.
  • Provide and wear CSA-approved steel-toed safety footwear.
  • Follow all company health, safety, food-quality, and operational procedures.
  • Be available to work overtime when required, including evenings and weekends where operational needs require additional hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a grain elevator, grain-processing facility, agricultural operation, or similar industrial environment is an asset.
  • Grain-cleaning experience is an asset.
  • Previous elevator experience is an asset.
  • Experience working with agricultural or farm equipment is preferred.
  • Certification or experience operating manlifts, skid steers, telehandlers, or similar equipment is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Review and understand daily delivery, receiving, processing, and loading plans.
  • Probe and collect product samples to ensure quality meets contract specifications.
  • Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Prepare, print, and enter scale tickets accurately.
  • Maintain and update inventory records.
  • Spot, clean, prepare, and load railcars.
  • Retain receiving and shipping samples and assist with proper sample disposal.
  • Conduct plant and product changeovers as required.
  • Perform regular product quality checks and accurately document results in the shift log.
  • Immediately communicate any product-quality concerns that could affect operations or customer requirements.
  • Follow established plant cleaning and housekeeping schedules.
  • Review shift reports and ensure important operational information is communicated between shifts.
  • Identify and immediately report equipment deficiencies, mechanical concerns, or operational issues.
  • Assist with routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and general equipment upkeep.
  • Perform basic maintenance activities such as greasing equipment, checking belts, and assisting fellow operators with maintenance tasks.
  • Operate equipment such as skid steers, manlifts, and telehandlers/zoom booms when properly trained and authorized.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas, including plant areas, office spaces, hoses, truck scales, rail tracks, and surrounding exterior areas.
  • Follow all company health and safety procedures, including: Personal protective equipment requirements, Lockout/tagout procedures, Hot-work permit requirements, Equipment operating procedures.
  • Ensure visiting contractors follow site sign-in and safety requirements.
  • Participate proactively in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-organized facility.
  • Work collaboratively with the operations team to coordinate receiving, processing, loading, and shipping activities.
  • Communicate important operational, safety, equipment, and quality information promptly.
  • Share knowledge with team members and provide constructive feedback.
  • Support fellow operators and other departments as required to maintain efficient operations.
  • Provide professional and courteous service to growers, truck drivers, contractors, and visitors.
  • Represent Agrocorp positively and professionally during all on-site interactions.
