About The Position

The Plant Operator role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and operating the plant in a safe and efficient manner. This includes operating support equipment, performing plant wash-downs, managing the control room, and maintaining crushing and conveying equipment. The position also involves plant maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM), and repair functions within the plant maintenance area. The operator must be able to solve problems and troubleshoot issues that arise in the plant maintenance area, conduct monthly safety observations and interactions, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass or have passed a ½ inch plate test both vertical and horizontal.
• Capable of welding and cutting.
• Minimum six months experience of plant or mill experience.
• Knowledge of and ability to operate train load out system.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and water pumps.
• Working knowledge of plant systems.
• Be self-directed and motivated.
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
• Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to abide by and ensure compliance with all company rules and guidelines and all applicable state and federal laws.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and at different times of day.
• Ability to work overtime as required by the Company.
• Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift.
• Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.
• Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
• Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA.
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs and good hand to eye coordination.
• Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift.
• Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.

• Prefer computer skills to include SAP.
