About The Position

Vulcan Metals Specialty Products is the Global Leader in Magnesium Plate and Sheet Technology as well as other non-ferrous metals. We are a manufacturer and supplier of Graphic Arts products, as well as a manufacturer of magnesium sheet and plate. We are a manufacturer and supplier of thin magnesium sheet used in the Graphic Arts industry. In addition, we manufacture and process rolled magnesium products and other non-ferrous metals. As such, the company has two clear personas; it is a product supplier to Graphic Arts market and end users, and it provides lightweight engineering solutions via the use of magnesium sheet and plate. At our facility we do a casting process that melts down the magnesium which then molds it into slabs. We then use the rolling mill to thin out the slabs of magnesium to meet the customer needs.

Requirements

  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
  • Ability to read, schematics and manuals.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work 10–12-hour shifts and stand for long periods of time.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Proven experience in a metals manufacturing and processing.

Nice To Haves

  • Specific proven experience as rolling mill operator or metal caster.

Responsibilities

  • Rolling metals to gauge while maintaining good quality characteristics.
  • Cast or Pot room experience with transferring and mixing of molten metals.
  • Load and unload material to be processed at workstations using overhead crane or forklift.
  • Work under the guidance of Supervisor or Lead to perform and complete the assigned duties in timely manner.
  • Operate trucks and other industrial vehicles to transfer the production material between warehouse and working area.
  • Follow safety procedures and company policies for equipment operation.
  • Contribute to waste management programs.
  • Identify and report unsafe operations to Supervisor immediately.
  • Determine product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, and number of pieces to be cut, sheared, slit, or ground.
  • Utilize tape measure, micrometers, and preset gauges.
  • Other duties as assigned.
