This role is within the Wastewater - Solid Waste Handling department and is the second level of a five-level wastewater plant operations series. The position is responsible for maintaining and operating collection systems, lift stations, and chlorination facilities, as well as operating pumps and valves to regulate wastewater flow through treatment processes. It also involves operating pump stations, collecting samples, performing control tests, maintaining chemical feed equipment, and extensive record-keeping. The role requires monitoring meters, gauges, and computerized systems, performing routine and higher-level maintenance on plant facilities and grounds, and handling sludge processing, including the operation of centrifuges. Department-specific duties may include skilled technical work in operating the Moccasin Bend Wastewater Treatment plant, monitoring all pump stations and CSO's via SCADA, and coordinating with other departments and agencies. This position is deemed essential during inclement weather.
