About The Position

Witham Health Services is seeking a skilled Plant Operations Specialist to join their team in Lebanon, IN. This position is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance needs of the facility, ensuring a safe, reliable, and efficient healthcare environment. Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED preferred
  • Vocational training and/or apprenticeship preferred, or equivalent work experience in the field accepted
  • In-house or field experience within a healthcare setting preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience working in a commercial or industrial trade field required
  • Valid Indiana driver's license required with driving history meeting WHS insurance requirements
  • Ability to maintain telephone communication to support callback requirements as needed
  • Available to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as schedule requires
  • Demonstrates knowledge and competency in low voltage electrical control systems
  • Works safely and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding critical and private systems

Responsibilities

  • Performs daily operations of the facility and responds to maintenance needs throughout Witham facilities in a timely, professional, and courteous manner.
  • Performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and facility improvements.
  • Addresses security-related needs.
  • Performs facility maintenance, repairs, preventative maintenance, and operational support throughout Witham Health Services facilities.
  • Works independently and collaboratively with the Plant Operations team, vendors, contractors, and other departments to ensure facility systems remain safe, functional, and compliant with applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for installation, safety testing, preventative maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, cost-effective maintenance, and repair of low voltage control systems.
  • Responsible for overseeing, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, operating, maintaining, and documenting equipment and systems including: Fire alarm systems, Access control systems, Pneumatic tube systems, Infant abduction systems, Nurse call systems, and other assigned systems and equipment.
  • Responds to codes and facility system needs as assigned by the Director of Plant Operations or designee.
  • Communicates professionally with equipment vendors, parts suppliers, and contractors to obtain competitive service and repair solutions.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs controls for cooking appliances, microwave ovens, kitchen equipment, and non-clinical electrical devices.
  • Works collaboratively with other department trades specialists to support workload requirements.
  • Provides expertise and support to other departments as needed.
  • Maintains clean and organized work areas including plant spaces, shops, electrical rooms, above ceiling areas, cable penetrations, and fire penetrations.
  • Maintains professional appearance and attitude.
  • Supports training of other department trades staff in systems-related areas.
  • Assists with installation, repair, and planning of upgrades involving: Nurse call systems, Access control systems, Energy management systems, Security cameras, and Low voltage control systems.
  • Identifies opportunities for cost savings while maintaining system reliability and security.
  • Responsible for installation, safety testing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and cost-effective maintenance of HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Responsible for servicing, operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and documenting systems including: Boiler and piping systems, Hydronics, Medical gas piping, Chiller systems, Air handling systems, Rooftop units, Intake and exhaust fans, Domestic water systems, Kitchen equipment, Ice machines, Coolers and freezers, Energy management systems, and Supporting pumps, controls, and electrical systems.
  • Communicates professionally with HVAC vendors, parts suppliers, and contractors.
  • Supports construction and installation projects.
  • Calculates heating and cooling loads related to building efficiency.
  • Develops, interprets, and maintains specifications, drawings, schematics, preventative maintenance records, and repair logs.
  • Assists with planning and execution of preventative programs for capital equipment.
  • Identifies opportunities to reduce costs through energy conservation and retrofit planning.
  • Maintains load balance and works with contractors to reduce equipment stress.
  • Responsible for installation, safety testing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and cost-effective maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Maintains and repairs: Emergency generators, ASCO transfer gear, Standard and emergency power distribution panels, Fire alarm systems, Access control systems, Pneumatic tube systems, Infant abduction systems, Nurse call systems, and other assigned systems.
  • Performs maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and testing of: Medium voltage feeder circuits, Essential electrical networks, Life safety branch systems, Critical branch systems, Non-essential feeds, and Branch circuit feeders.
  • Repairs and maintains: Overcurrent protection, Automatic transfer switches, Surge suppression systems, and Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
  • Troubleshoots fire protection and fire suppression system controls.
  • Maintains multiple power generators.
  • Repairs electrical cooking appliances, kitchen equipment, and non-clinical electrical devices.
  • Supports HVAC electrical repairs to reduce contracted service needs.
  • Performs construction and installation duties including conductor sizing, motor sizing, insulation requirements, voltage drop calculations, and conduit installation.
  • Cuts, bends, threads, and installs rigid, EMT, MC, and PVC conduit.
  • Provides expertise to other departments as needed.
  • Maintains clean and organized work areas including plant spaces, electrical rooms, generators, transformers, and distribution equipment.
  • Assists with installation, repair, and planning of upgrades involving nurse call, access control, energy management, security cameras, and low voltage systems.
  • Responsible for installation, safety testing, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and cost-effective maintenance of plumbing and HVAC systems.

  • Works with trades teams, vendors, and contractors to ensure quality workmanship.
  • Maintains, repairs, inspects, troubleshoots, and tests: Patient rooms, Building finishes, Electrical systems, HVAC systems, Plumbing systems, and Electronics.
  • Maintains roofs, gutters, flashing, drains, windows, sealing, glazing, trim, and hardware.
  • Develops and maintains specifications, drawings, schematics, blueprints, repair logs, and preventative maintenance records.
  • Assists with preventative maintenance planning.
  • Supports other departments as needed.
  • Maintains proper uniform and footwear requirements.
  • Carries required tools when outside the shop or maintenance office.
  • Supports WHS Foundation events.
  • Responds to codes, incidents, and emergencies according to policies and procedures.
