About The Position

Under the direction of a Plant Manager, this role directs the daily operations for production and maintenance departments. The position monitors both departments to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely, while also ensuring all applicable regulatory requirements are met. The Plant Operations Manager will champion a safety culture, ensure a safe work environment, and cultivate safe behavior. They will direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods, establish processes for quick response to mechanical needs, and organize and plan routine preventive maintenance for machinery. This role executes production schedules, provides guidance to shift leaders, maintains inventory procedures, and participates in hiring decisions. The Plant Operations Manager leads problem-solving and process improvement initiatives, ensures successful new product launches, audits facilities for GMP compliance, and provides guidelines for equipment maintenance. They routinely monitor performance reports, develop staff knowledge and skills, and drive project execution. Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or in operations management
  • Five to seven years of experience in production management in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of working with an integrated management system (ERP)
  • Bilingual
  • Proficient in using the Office suite, good IT skills
  • Verbal and written communication skills in French and English to intermediary level.

Responsibilities

  • Champion a safety culture, ensure a safe work environment and cultivate safe behavior.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in the production or processing of goods.
  • Establish process to ensure technicians respond quickly to mechanical needs.
  • Organize and plan the routine preventive maintenance of blow mold and packaging machines and conveyor systems.
  • Execute production schedules to meet company and customer requirements.
  • Provide guidance and direction to shift leaders to ensure timely and efficient plant operations.
  • Maintain procedures for accurate inventory of finished goods and raw materials.
  • Interview employment candidates and authorize personnel hires.
  • Authorize employment actions of plant personnel.
  • Lead problem-solving and process improvement with the plant and customer to achieve resolution and elimination of product issues.
  • Provide for successful new product launches by ensuring clear specification development, process capability definition, and attainment of customer satisfaction on initial shipments.
  • Audit facility for compliance with GMP standards and maintain plant in compliance with corporate quality requirements.
  • Provide guidelines to ensure timely repair and efficient predictive and preventive maintenance of equipment and machinery.
  • Routinely monitor shift and individual machine performance reports and processes to ensure effective operations.
  • Develop and improve the knowledge and skills of immediate staff and hourly personnel; maintain training and development documentation.
  • Drive execution of assigned projects to ensure accurate and timely completion.
  • Other duties as assigned by plant management.
  • Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.
