About The Position

Provide support to employees in the facility by administering First Aid, processing medical paperwork, conducting physical exams and urine tests for substance abuse testing, dispensing over the counter medication, and following worker’s compensation procedures.

Requirements

Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in practicing state
Current CPR certification
First aid
CPR
Ability to operate blood pressure equipment
MS Word and Excel experience necessary
Must be able to work in various temperatures.
Move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property.
As required by visiting facility (PPE).

Nice To Haves

Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
Bachelor’s Degree in nursing-related field.
Military experience

Responsibilities

Uses First Aid equipment for employee health checks.
Provides minor nursing needs to employees on a walk-in-basis.
Performs emergency first aid to all employees who require it.
Conducts all necessary drug screens on pre-employment and current employees.
Processes paperwork for OSHA to meet Federal guidelines.
Processes and files insurance claims for the facility.
Communicates with all management personnel routinely.
Completes incident reports and investigations as necessary.
Assists with New Employee Orientation as needed.
Communicates effectively at all levels from employees to management to physicians, both written and verbal.
Communicates with doctors and hospitals regarding medical/worker’s compensation claims.
Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
Attends appropriate team meetings.
As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
