About The Position
The purpose of this class is to perform planned maintenance on equipment, including motors, lighting, such as cranes, conveyors, grounds maintenance, gearboxes, and bearings. The class works under general supervision, according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience with pneumatic process control systems and overhead cranes, power plant preventive maintenance, electrical repairs, complex mechanical repairs, and repairs to emission monitors, leading maintenance teams, and providing mechanic training or a closely related experience.
- Must meet the City’s required medical standards as determined by a licensed physician.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position before any offer of employment or promotion.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of technical trade school curriculum in one or more of the following skill areas: industrial electricity, machinist mechanic, boiler repair, electric welding, or crane repair.
