About The Position
The Plant Materials Manager is responsible for the overall plant materials management. Key elements include planning, integration and execution of the production schedule, inventory control, purchasing, warehousing, distribution, and customer service.
Requirements
- Leading warehouse practices, including ABC inventory storage methodology and other lean concepts, while ensuring segregation of different material types
- Using external warehousing and taking a strategic approach to what products are stored in these facilities
- Preparing monthly and quarterly reports, as well as annual plans and forecasts of plant operations
- Managing others and executing on training plans
- Bachelor degree required (purchasing, supply chain, or related field)
- 2-3 years of relevant materials experience in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in MS Office
Nice To Haves
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred
- Previous experience working in a union environment is preferred
- Previous experience with SAP is highly desired
Responsibilities
- Support inventory tracking (SAP) and monitor inventory levels vs. shipments
- Monitor storeroom usage
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting
- Monitor all plant inventories and purchasing related functions while utilizing a structured cycle count process
- Direct the plant production schedule through communication with divisional production planning
- Supervise plant warehousing operations including transportation and distribution
- Execute MRP and generate materials releases to suppliers
- Ensure that post goods issues and stock transfer orders are completed within the same business day
- Perform AQS responsibilities in accordance with AQS manual
- Serve as primary plant contact for customer inquiries regarding production schedule, inventory, transportation, orders, and releases
