About The Position

Reframe Systems is seeking a Plant Manager to oversee the daily execution of their microfactory floor, transforming the production plan into finished homes. This role is crucial during a period of significant scaling, involving a move to a larger facility, substantial growth in direct labor, and a steep increase in output. The Plant Manager will be a hands-on leader responsible for daily production, managing the people who build, and maintaining quality, safety, and schedule. The position reports to the Head of Operations or a member of Reframe's executive team until that role is filled.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in manufacturing operations, including running a production floor through a real ramp or facility launch, with direct labor reporting.
  • Experience building a floor from a low base: establishing work cells, supervision structure, and a daily operating system.
  • Strong people leadership skills with a track record of developing builders and technicians into leads and holding teams accountable.
  • Comfort with high-mix, project-based production where the bill of materials and work vary with each job.
  • A strong floor presence, earning trust by being on the floor and solving problems.
  • Strong data orientation and comfort in a technology-forward factory environment where software is integral to work management.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience scaling a production operation from low rate to high volume.
  • Background in construction, modular, or other high-variability production.
  • Familiarity with lean and TWI, and experience running standard work and continuous improvement on the floor.
  • Experience setting requirements for and partnering with an in-house software or MES team.
  • Experience with the prototype-to-production transition and understanding of common issues.

Responsibilities

  • Own daily production on the floor, hitting the weekly build plan, keeping modules moving on takt, and clearing constraints.
  • Lead the full production team, including production managers, area managers, and leads, serving as the primary point of leadership.
  • Implement and run the daily management system, including morning huddles, tiered check-ins, and visual management.
  • Hold area and team leads accountable for weekly targets and provide support to achieve them.
  • Drive throughput and improve labor efficiency by focusing on the lowest-performing processes.
  • Ensure product quality by owning in-process and line checks, correcting defects, and building to standard.
  • Lead daily safety efforts, conduct safety walks, close out action items, and foster a culture of safety.
  • Own schedule reliability and on-time module completion for active projects.
  • Build the necessary supervision and shift structure to support team growth.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop builders and leads, growing technicians into leaders.
  • Partner with HR and Recruiting on high-volume hourly hiring and onboarding.
  • Set clear expectations and foster a floor culture that takes pride in its output.
  • Assist in the setup of the new Billerica facility, including floor layout, work cell design, commissioning, and leading the production team through the move.
  • Establish the daily operating system at the new facility for immediate performance.
  • Translate the production plan into staffing, training, and floor readiness on an accelerated timeline.
  • Act as a power user and requirements partner for the internal factory software team.
  • Run standard work and continuous improvement initiatives on the floor.
  • Manage using data generated by the floor.
